Pandion haliaetus
A large raptor that is dark above and white below. While soaring rivers and lakes, osprey wings form a shallow M, with wings arched forward. The primaries of the wing are dark and form a V. Primarily fish eaters, the osprey is fairly common and easily seen searching for prey. They dive into the water to catch fish, and can fly straight up out of the water, which they then "shake off" in mid-flight.
